I think it's time to dive in to shooting weddings. It's probably the most profitable subject, but it also the most stressful. I need to read up on all of the wedding books I have. I don't want to be too nervous.
I follow a bunch of famous wedding photogs on Twitter:
@thebecker - http://blog.thebecker.com/
@sarafrance - http://www.sarafrance.com/
@danesanders - http://danesanders.com/

These wedding photogs are AWESOME, and super successful.
I need all the help I can get. I have A LOT to learn!!

Meet the Bakers
Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooing my cousins family, The Bakers: Leon, Jennie, Kate, and Jack. It was very nice day in Boise, ID yesterday. There tons of things going on at Albertson's park, I think we counted 4 weddings. It was really neat to see all of the photographers.
We had a good time out there and took some great shots. Kate is not camera shy and took really good pictures. Jack was a ham and did a great job. Leon and Jennie have great smiles so the 4 of them looked great.
Thanks for a great Photoshoot guys!

2009 Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dutchnine/sets/72157621562297897/Hey there DutchNine fans. I have found a new creative side. I went on the 2nd Annual World Wide Photowalk this weekend. Basically there were over 30,000 people participating in this worldwide Photowalk in over 900 cities. The rules were just take a 2 hour walk around your city and take pictures…pictures of anything you wanted. It really made you walk slow and look at everything to see the details of a tire, a stack of books, a man relaxing on a bench, or a bee landing on a sunflower. Stuff like that I really never think about. I really enjoyed it. I think I got some good shots, I don’t think I am going to win the contest, but don’t care about that much THIS TIME!
4th of July and a long day!
Here is the aftermath of the busy 4th of July. The kids were worn out
from playing on the beach in Seattle. Don't they look so comfy don't
they…not!

Fireworks
I really like the 4th of July and Photography...so why not put the two together. I tried taking fireworks last year and it turned out ok...nothing spectacular just ok. I read up and looked at tons of firework photography. I learned that I need to try and get a landmark or something else in the photo other than just black sky and a big firework.
I think I got the perfect shot!!
Blogging is supposed to be fun?
Sorry 'fans' I haven't blogged in a while. I am not sure if I could call myself a blogger really. I mean I blog once every 6 months. I have every intention to blog, but never seem to have the time. I mean I am on my laptop at night just about every night. I can't spend 15 minutes writing a short blog? Well I am going to try and start. I will do my best to get at least 2-5 blogs out a week.
So there you go...there is the first one! I might even do one more tonight!!

Don’t Just Shop at a Camera Store Before Your Next Photo Trip
I follow Scott Bourne on Twitter (@scottbourne) and he posted this great idea.

Here’s why Ace Hardware is on my list of must-visit stores before a big photo expedition.
There are many, many gadgets that we photographers consider MUST-HAVE items and most of these can be found at any good photography store.
But there is another set of “gadgets” that you may want to consider, and the good news is, these can be found at any hardware store.
1. Flashlight – (two)
You never know when you’re going to need a flashlight. Having two allows you to hold one on your camera while setting up at dawn or dusk and another to light up your camera bag (or your subject if you’re into painting with light.)
2. Duct tape
I can’t count the number of times I’ve used duct tape to save my bacon. Whether it’s holding the battery pack on the D90 after it fell off or just holding a power cord up and out of the way, duct tape is a must-have item in any camera bag. You may want to add electrical tape to the list too.
3. Batteries
Almost every hardware store in America sells batteries. Most even sell re-chargable batteries. Stock up and remember that old re-chargable batteries don’t hold a charge as well as new batteries.
4. Rope
Rope is another one of those things you may think you’ll never need – until you do. I use rope for holding backgrounds up, for securing oversize items in the truck, or for lashing backgrounds together.
5. Small Step Ladder
Raising your camera 12-24″ will change the entire look and feel of most photos, help you avoid ugly backgrounds, and change perspective. You can pick up a small two-step ladder at most hardware stores to carry in your vehicle for just the right occasion.
6. Painter Pole
In photography, you never know when you’re going to need a piece of gear like this. The simplest way to use it is to convert this pole into a small softbox holder that an assistant can use to position light into a scene from a distance. The Shur-Line Easy Reach Model 06570 is my pole of choice. Available at most hardware stores. Add a few bits and bobs to it and you have an amazing piece of gear. Hat tip to Pixsylated for posting about this and giving me the idea.
I’ve really just scratched the surface here. There are lots of other useful items you can probably come up with at the local hardware store from background stands to props. But you get the idea. Enjoy.
